NFTs can be used to represent easily-reproducible items such as photos, videos, audio and other types of digital assets as unique items, and uses blockchain technology to establish a verified and public proof of ownership. Transactions on most blockchain networks incur a fee, commonly referred to as “Gas.” This fee rewards the activity of the different nodes in the network for confirming your transaction. Transactions using Ethereum mainnet incur Gas charges. Transactions using our platform’s default BridgingTheGap Wallet (on the Polygon blockchain network) do not incur any Gas charges. Whenever a Gas fee is charged, it is displayed on the platform, so there are no surprises!

We know that there have been concerns with blockchain’s energy consumption which is why we are operating the BridgingTheGap Impact NFT Gallery on Polygon—a sustainable blockchain that connects to the Ethereum network but operates a Proof-of-Stake (POS) mechanism that is a more energy efficient alternative to Proof-of-Work (POW) systems that many other blockchains use. To take it a step further, the BridgingTheGap Impact NFT Gallery will be a green NFT—through our impact partners we will be offsetting the carbon impact as well as allocating 5% of NFT sales to climate restoration activities including tree planting to generate a net positive climate impact.

Transparency is important. Let’s get clear on where funds are going.

After transaction fees and artist honorariums (up to $1000 USD for youth artists), the gross Sales will be distributed as following:

  • 20% to gallery and auction partners for making our drop possible
  • 80% Social Impact
    • 30% reinvested into BridgingTheGap for the operation of our youth NFT program and to continue scale the impact of our youth upskill and innovation initiatives
    • 50% net Sales will be allocated as “Impact Capital” and used to establish the YOUNGA fund—a novel global fund dedicated to investing in and supporting youth-focused initiatives that advance the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
      • Select NFT pieces in our collection already have an established charity beneficiary, in which case partial proceeds from the NFT will be donated to the organization.

BridgingTheGap is a woman-led social enterprise with impact incorporated into the backbone of our organization, community investments and program initiatives. With a mission to increase universal access to education and prepare emerging leaders for the future economy, we will continue to invest our funds in initiatives that bridge opportunity gaps, alleviate barriers of participation and provide accessible skills enrichment to emerging talent on a global scale. We are committed to using our funds from this gallery to create measurable impact with a focus on empowering and equipping young people for the future, including sponsoring free education and upskilling of 20,000+ young people worldwide through our four-week bespoke Youth Delegate leadership training and advocacy program as part of our annual YOUNGA Forum running from 2020-2030.

BridgingTheGap Ventures was founded with the goal of bringing together young changemakers with the world’s top industry leaders, decision-makers and influencers to usher in a new era for humanity that is more connected, collaborative and empowered than the status quo. Providing access is central to all that we do—bridging opportunity gaps for underrepresented and underserved groups in order to foster inclusive innovation, prepare for the future of education and work, and co-create solutions to community challenges.
